What shoes to wear under a jumpsuit?

A few weeks ago I was standing in my closet, deciding which shoes should I choose to wear with my beloved black pima cotton Jumpsuit Iara, for a friend’s art opening exhibition.

When it comes to styling a jumpsuit, your choice of footwear can make or break the entire look, depending on the occasion and intention.

The best shoes to wear with it tend to be high heels or platforms – and the higher, the better. But the popularity of jumpsuits has led to an influx of more casual, summery styles which have been designed to work with a variety of different shoes. As usual, you don’t want to dress in “cookie cutter algorithm” mode, but to let your own style shine through, to give you the comfort and confidence of looking your best.

We've done the work for you to create the ultimate cheat sheet for picking shoes to wear with any jumpsuits you like (the Jumpsuit Iara or the Jumpsuit Isabella are our favorite ones). To exude an effortlessly fresh and fashionable vibe, consider these trendy options:

Sneakers: For those who crave a street-style edge, fashion-forward sneakers make a bold statement. Not only are they comfortable for all-day wear, but they also add a sporty edge to your attire. Opt for a sleek, minimalist design, like the basic black or white canvas “ked style”  lace ups to let your Jumpsuit speak for itself.

Strappy Sandals: Embrace the sunshine and warm weather with a pair of stylish strappy sandals. Whether flat or with a kitten heel, these sandals exude laid-back sophistication and are perfect for a casual yet refined look. You can also wear slide sandals with unexpected twists—whether it's a statement buckle, fringe, or a metallic finish—adding a touch of summer vibes to your entire outfit. If your style is funki-er, and your intention is to have fun,  use your sandals with the crayon colored tights or socks that are popping up in most SS24 NYFW collections.

Espadrilles: Inject a touch of Mediterranean flair by slipping into a pair of espadrilles. The natural textures and braided details will complement the breathable nature of any of your Iara  jumpsuits. These types of shoes are perfect for creating a relaxed polished aesthetic.

Ankle Boots: Transition your jumpsuit seamlessly into cooler seasons with a pair of ankle boots. Choose a sleek, pointed-toe design for a contemporary edge, or gold square toed ones, or opt for chunky heel moto ones to add a touch of rugged charm.

Platform Sandals: Elevate your look with platform sandals. These shoes not only provide a stylish lift but also bring a contemporary edge to your outfit,

Lace-Up or Ballet Flats: Strike the perfect balance between comfort and style by choosing lace-up or ballet flats to wear with your jumpsuits. The added detailing and embellishments adds a touch of casual coolness. Metallics help transition your outfit, making them a versatile option that can take you from brunch to casual evening gatherings, accessorizing with the same metal finish beaded necklaces, chunky bracelets, and/or earrings, as well as brooches. At the other end of the spectrum, check out the playful looking ballet Jellies, either in clear or a myriad of transparent colors to contrast, or compliment your look. You can  choose either a nude nail polish for your pedicure or go wild, as a fun accessory.

Remember, the key to a fresh and fashionable “Jumpsuit" look lies in the seamless blend of comfort and style. Choose footwear that complements the overall vibe of your jumpsuit while expressing your personal flair. Whether you're aiming for casual cool or chic elegance, the right shoes can tie your ensemble together effortlessly.

With love…
